What?
Chemical reactions are when you take two chemicals and put them together to make a new chemical. Each chemical that takes part in the reaction is called the reactant. Iron ore has iron oxide in it. To take out the iron oxide, you need to heat the iron till it melts. It separates the oxygen from the ore to make pure iron. This process takes out the oxygen because of iron bonding with carbon better than bonding with oxygen. The end product is called the product, like in multiplication.
Numbers below the letter are telling you how many molecules are in the chemical reaction that is taking place. The numbers are called coefficients.
Each reactant has to be equal, so that is why there are coefficients. Some reactions will keep on going and not stop till they use all of the chemicals. These are irreversible reactions. Some reactants will turn into products, then back to reactants. These are called equilibrium reactions. The reactions can be reversed.
